As Donovan Mitchell celebrates his recent marriage to Coco Jones, revisit the NBA star’s journey through the years in photos.
Donovan Mitchell is an American professional basketball player who was born in Elmsford, New York, on September 7, 1996. After starring for the Louisville Cardinals from 2015 to 2017, he declared for the NBA Draft following his sophomore season. Mitchell was selected by the Denver Nuggets with the 13th overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft before being traded to the Utah Jazz later that night.
Mitchell made an immediate impact in the NBA, earning a spot on the NBA All-Rookie First Team and winning the 2018 Slam Dunk Contest during his rookie season. He quickly developed into one of the league’s premier scorers, earning multiple NBA All-Star selections before being traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2022. In 2024, he signed a three-year contract extension to remain in Cleveland and continued leading the franchise as one of the Eastern Conference’s top teams.
Off the court, Mitchell has landed endorsement deals with Adidas, including his popular D.O.N. signature sneaker line, and has been recognized for his charitable work and anti-bullying advocacy. In August 2026, he married Grammy-winning singer Coco Jones after announcing their engagement earlier that year.
